The Legal Counsel is member of a team of in-house legal professionals, responsible for the provision of Legal services for all divisions of West Coast Supply Group, a multinational wholesale trading company in FMCG premium brands, covering a total of 75+ countries in the FMCG industry. You report directly to the General Counsel.

This is how you tackle your day. You: 

• Interact with and provide (pro-active) commercial legal support to all divisions, working directly with our International Traders as well as Logistics & Supply Chain;
• Responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating all types of commercial contracts, such as purchase, supply, agency, distribution and logistics;
• Deliver face-to-face training to our International Traders on areas like commercial contracting and compliance;
• Providing legal support in developing new and innovative own brands;
• Support the business in case of commercial disputes and litigation;
• Liaise with and monitor (international) external advisors;
• Keep up with new legislation, market developments and proactively advise management on this.

We are looking for a legal professional with international FMCG and/or retail experience and strong social and communication skills.

Profile

• Master of Laws Degree (or similar qualification);
• More than 5 years of experience, which would include at least relevant working experience as an attorney in a law firm and experience as a Legal Counsel within an international business environment;
• Solid knowledge of Intellectual Property laws, Competition laws and international trade (incoterms and trade compliance);
• Background in FMCG business and/or retail is a must;
• Business oriented and dedicated team player with a pragmatic “find a way not an excuse” approach;
• Service-minded, able to work independently in a culture rich and fast-paced international organization;
• Good judgement and analytical skills;
• High degree of professional ethics and integrity;
• Eager, result driven and a true problem solver;
• Organized, proactive and an approachable person with a hands on mentality;
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and Outlook), good knowledge of Excel;
• Excellent social and communication skills in English, both written and verbal (German, Spanish and Dutch are a plus).
